AA35410 SEPECAT Jaguar – Decommissioned livery, No.6 Sqn, RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, June 2007

The first Jaguar was delivered to the RAF in 1973 and equipped eight front-line squadrons in the UK and Germany.  Its capabilities were first tested in the 1991 Gulf War and subsequent operations over Iraq, as well as the Balkans.

Updated to maintain combat effectiveness, the GR.3A upgrade included GPS, helmet-mounted sight and new engines for increased economy and performance.  16(R) and 54 Squadrons disbanded in 2005, followed by 41(F) Squadron in 2006.  The type’s official retirement was on 25th April 2007, with the last Squadron, No.6, disbanding on 31st May 2007.

To mark the type's retirement, Jaguar GR.3A XX119 was specially painted up in this striking 'Jaguar' colour scheme with badges down the rudder of all the RAF squadrons that had operated the type.
