Grumman worked closely with the Navy on AEW (Airborne Early Warning) during WWII. In 1960, improved versions resulted in the production of the Hawkeye. The improved plane was not used for over a decade. The technologically advanced plane was not used fo over a decade. The E-2 Hawkeye has a radar range of 230 miles, and a wingspan of 81 feet.
