Vanguard 1/43 Land Rover Series I RAF (VA11106) LIMETED EDITION
Land Rovers were quickly adopted by the RAF when launched in 1948 and were used as utility vehicles, fulfilling a variety of roles such as moving tools, parts and personnel around airfields. They were also used to tow aircraft, an operation carried out by placing the tail-wheel of the aeroplane inside a wheeled box which was then hitched up to the towbar. One of their most important roles was as a Follow Me vehicle, which involved mounting a large rear facing sign on the Land Rover saying Follow Me, so aircraft landing at an unfamiliar airfield could be led to the correct dispersal bay.
